# Creating a Request - From an Uploaded PDF

Use this when the document you want signed doesn't come from a Frappe DocType at all - just a PDF you already have.

## 1. Start a new request

Open **Frappe Sign Request -> New**. Give it a title and leave **Source Type** as **Uploaded PDF**.

## 2. Attach the source PDF

Use the **Source PDF** field's attach button to upload the file.

Once it's uploaded, you can see and re-open the file directly from the form:

## 3. Add a signer

Add a row to the **Signers** table and link it to a **Frappe Sign Profile** (see **Signer Profiles** if you haven't created one yet). Save the request - it stays in **Draft** until you open the Designer and place fields.

## 4. Place signing fields

Open **Frappe Sign -> Open Designer** and place at least one Signature field - see **The Signing Designer** for the full walkthrough. Status moves to **Prepared** once fields are saved.

## 5. Send it

Once you're happy with the fields, send the request - see **Sending a Request & the Signing Portal**.
