# Configured Source DocTypes

Before anyone can send a signing request straight from a document (a Contract of Employment, a Leave Application, a Site Transfer Form...), that DocType needs a row in **Frappe Sign Settings -> Configured DocTypes**.

Open the row editor (the pencil icon on a row, or **Add Row** for a new one):

Each row configures:

| Field | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Source DocType** | Which DocType this row applies to. |
| **Default Print Format** | The Print Format used to render the source document to PDF. Filtered to Print Formats that actually belong to the chosen Source DocType. |
| **Enabled** | Turns this DocType on/off as a signing source without deleting the row. |
| **Required Sender Role** | If set, only users with this role see the "Create Signing Request" button on this DocType. |
| **Require Template** / **Default Template** | Force senders to build the request from a pre-defined field layout - see **Templates**. |
| **Attach Signed PDF To Source** | When checked, the final signed PDF is attached to the source document once its request completes. Off by default. |
| **Attach Signed PDF Field** | Only shown once the checkbox above is on - a **Select** listing only the source DocType's own Attach/Attach Image fields, so you can pick exactly where the signed PDF should land on the record. Leave it blank to just attach the PDF as a private file, without setting any specific field. |
| **Allow Submit Source On Completion** | When checked, the source document is submitted automatically (if it's submittable and still a draft) once its signing request completes. |

Both of the "on completion" settings are snapshotted onto each Frappe Sign Request the moment it's created - so changing the Settings row later never retroactively changes a request that's already in progress. You can also see (and, before the request is sent, override) both fields directly on the Frappe Sign Request itself - see the **Attach Signed PDF To Source** / **Attach Signed PDF Field** fields in **Creating a Request - From a Frappe Document**.

Next: give each signer a **Signer Profile**.
